stiff neck problem

i everyone!;

this is my first post here and i need some help from you.

Ive been a proud owner of a 64 candy apple red jaguar since 1992.

But i realized i wasnt using it as much as i used to do but couldnt figure out why.But now i do:

The neck is bended backwards!!:

Ive tried everything in the book, put heavier strings (12/54), put shims in the neck joint, and of course i tried the truss rod.

The truss rod seems to be completetly loose and the neck is still , stiff as a ****.

please help, i loved that guitar but now in unplayable as the strings rattle and buzz in the middle of the neck much more than i can stand.

I'd take it to a guitar tech. Someone that has no clue what they are doing could've damaged the truss rod.

Sounds like you have one of two problems.......

1.) Truss rod is tightened all the way up, which is pretty bad because it can bow the neck permanently if left for too long..

2.) Distorted/Warped neck - meaning, the wood is bent into that direction and holding it's shape.

It'll need a tech, who most likely will either have the neck replaced (if the neck is un salvageable), or have it repaired.

hmmm sounds like you neck is busted, sorry to hear that.

When adjusting the truss-rod if you do any extreme adjustment let it stand for a day two, that way you will allow the neck to accommodate. but if you try to twist it back and forth trying to get it right fast, chances are that you are going to break it. adjusting old necks is a pain man.

I'm no neck or truss rod expert, but doesn't it sound like it could be that the truss rod's thread has sheared? If it's totally loose and won't tighten that's what I'd guess at. Either way it would need a pro to fix it.

You know that if the neck's bent backwards you need to tighten the truss rod right?

The thread/screw of my neck is actually pressing the bodu of the guitar, should i thight it then 🙄

I would'nt do anything other than take it to a tech, if it is as bad as you say they just may be able to salvage something from it.

when I said you need to tighten the truss rod if it's bent backwards, I was actually talking out of my arse. Wasn't thinking straight yesterday, ignore me 😕

if you can take pics i may be able to tell you what to do.

lets make certain that the neck is bending back(towards the back of the body)

once that is certain and your truss rod is all the way loose, take a straight and lay it on the back of the neck, any space will indicate a bow, an arch and if it teaders then its a bow and it needs to be straightened out using the truss rod.

try hanging it on the wally with a heavy gauge of string and leave it like that for about a month or so, measure before and after.

and if you can please get some pics or just take it to a guitar tech.
