Mustang humbucker

I was thinking about getting a mustang and putting a humbucker in it.

The one I am probably getting is a 1998 reissue.

Is there any chance that the body will have a humbucker cutout instead of a single coil?

-Also, I know that there are single coil sized humbuckers but do they sound like the normal version?

I never seen the inside of the guitar so I will say who knows, if ur talking about comign stock like that no way, also the single coil humbuckers sound like theyre big brothers to me, but people have mixed opinions in my opinion getting a Jb Jr. or another single sized Humbucker is better in the long run because you dont do any permanent modifications to the guitar if you ever think you may sell it somewhere down the road.

I've got 2 Mustangs, put single coil sized hb's in the bridge position of both. One is a Duncan Lil 59, which sounds very much like the full size '59 I have in my Gibson. The other is a Duncan JB Jr, which sounds excellent, but I've never heard a full size JB to compare it to... In any event, it's WAY preferable than routing for a full size, imho, and just about everyone else's ho too!

I really prefer the sound of the full size JB over the hot rails. I've never installed a JB jr and tried it out though.

for god's sakes, please don't hack up the stang for a bucker. Either leave it alone, or install a single coil sized bucker.

My mustang is a non original frankenstein ('66 body, '73 neck) so I wasn't really worried about ruining the value.

I wouldn't advise carving yours up if you ever plan on selling it.

On the other hand if someone is looking for a kurtified mustang you may make out well by selling it.

What's wrong with putting a HB in? I put a JB in mine and it sounds great. I don't see why resale value is so important to so many people. I don't think there's anything wrong with customizing a guitar. I don't own one guitar that I haven't modded. I don't regret any of it. They're just tools.

Plus, you can always find some chump to sell it to for insane prices. Like a 14 year old nirvana kid.
