The original deal was to do the following:
-Stratocaster in Daphne Blue with a rosewood fingerboard and birdseye neck, one piece light alder body air dried for 30 plus years etc. Reverse headstock, Mint green pickguard, lefty staggered handwound Alnico II pickups (for the Hendrix sound, subtle but just for the fun of it).
-Telecaster in Vintage cream (really replicating an Olympic white with a yellowed clearcoat) One piece light alder body, flame maple neck, rosewood fingerboard). Hand wound Alnico II pickups.
-Jazzmaster in Olympic white birdseye neck, tortise pickguard and rosewood fingerguard. Handwound Alnico V pickups. Vintage style hardware (kluson style tuners etc.).
-Jaguar in Fiesta red with birdseye neck and pickguard of undecided color and rosewood fingerboard. Hand wound Alnico V pickups with the original claws.
-Mustang, undecided color scheme alder body and rosewood finger board.
-P Bass Undecided everything.
-Open for other suggestions
I have great admiration for what Leo and his buddies did in the early days of Fender that I just want to build one of each of his great creations from that era. I can't afford even one original guitar from that time period but even if I could I would rather build one of each exactly the way I want it with the color and wood choices and the hand wound pickups tuned in just the way I want. So, I am having a great time just doing the research and gathering all the materials which has been quite a challenge.
I looked on Ebay the other day and 60's era Strats are going for $40K!
