re-wiring, coil splits, phasing etc..

Looked through all the discussions & can't see an answer so...

I've got a re-issue Jagstang & like many I love it's playability & looks but am totally dissatisfied with the p'ups.

Just ordered a couple of Seymore Duncans (JB 'bucker & a 'vintage hot' s/c)

I've seen the mod to turn one switch into a 3 way which appeals coz it's a pain in the ass to switch from neck to bridge mid song!

Now the question is...

If I make one switch a 3 way selector (bridge/both/neck) is it possible to make the other work as a coil tap/normal/phase ...?

You should be able to do a coil split on your humbucker with 1 switch and have the other for pickup selection. It'll just take some figuring out! I wired up a guitar my brother built with a humbucker and 2 single coils. For some reason he wanted seperate switches for each pickup, but I added an extra switch to split the coil. Can't remember how it was done exactly as that was a few years ago! You could also look into swapping 1 of the pots for a push pull to give yourself an extra switch without needing to route.

the diagrams on the seymour duncan website are a pretty good place to start for wiring idears!
