I've already got a set of SJM-2 seymour duncan 'Hot' jazzmaster pickups in it, and I've tried the quarter pounder in the bridge before and wasn't all that impressed: the neck SJM-2 is great and I'll keep it but I feel I'd get a much more versatile guitar with a 'bucker in the bridge.
The Curtis Novak option is certainly a good one, had a look at his work and his jazzmaster humbuckers fit under jazzer pickup covers and I've seen a couple of examples of faux pole pieces been put on top of humbuckers to fit under P-90 covers on his site, so he could probably do the same for me.
However, I must say I like the look of a hot-rodded guitar with a pickup that shouldn't be there: having it exposed wouldn't be a problem for me.
