@CROSS: well 250k pots will have a quicker drop off than 1M pots wired the same way i think, since the main difference between the two is in the high frequency content. since you'd have to rewire it anyway, I'd try doing this mod.
on the volume lug, solder the middle to the left one, which goes to the tone pot. this is considered 'hot' because it is the live signal which goes to the amp. Any point/wire in the guitar which is at all times directly in the audio path to the amp can be considered 'hot'. When you do this, the tone will also not become as muffled when you roll off the volume. I've been procrastinating doing this to my jag since im a lazy ####, but i'll do it this weekend if you want and tell you how much of a difference it makes. some (aka aug) also claim that they arent even true audio pots, which would make a difference as well. but either way, this will help...
