What happened to my Jag?

I'm new to the forum. I've had a Jag for almost a year and I just got a Mustang for christmas. I live in Portland, OR, and my band was playing a show, and my Jag just died. It wouldn't play or anything. All of the electronics seem to be intact, but it won't play. I feel stupid because I shoud know this, but does anyone have any ideas about what happened to it?

Obviously, there's a shorted connection somewhere. The first place I'd look is the input jack.

gah! I had that happen to my SG! I looked it over really carefully and didnt find anything, so I've been cannibalizing it the last few months, stealing it's parts ofr other projects. HOpe your experience is better.

I'm gonna send it in to the nearest fender shop soon. I prefer the mustang anyway. It lighter and got a better feel, even though it's a 65' and has no contour.

Yea...the best thing you could do is take it to a guitar tech, really. Be sure to have him explain to you what was wrong...that way, if it happens again, you can fix it yourself and save some dough...

The first thing I'd check for is dry solder joints on all the black switches. That's exactly what happened to that 'whispering' guy on here recently and I've heard of two other cases of bad solders on the legs of these switches from the factory.

Plug in the guitar, unscrew the plates and jiggle the wires to see if anything crackles. If it does you've found the probablob - worth trying just to save the hassle and cost of using a tech.

I can't believe how many people have that Cartman avatar, unless I'm going mad it seems to be standard for new people.

Like's been said, I'd check out the input jack and make sure the connection there is OK, do that before you take it to a tech as you might be able to sort that out yourself and save some time and money, if not then yeah, what Augustus said.

if all of the electronics seem fine but it won't play then it might be a problem with your arm.

Yeah, I just fixed it today> I didnt notice the pickup wire had come loose, but I reattached it and it's all good now.

both my mustang and jagstang had bad switches on them. fried within months of getting them (granted, about 6 years apart). both made in japan. not implying, just saying. . .
