Neck Setteling??

hola!

ok long story short............

i took a japanese jaguar body..............didnt have a neck..........

put an old HAMER (stratocaster copy style) neck on it.......

the damn thing will not stay in tune...........ive tried for a couple hours......

does the neck just need to settle in? also the tuning keys were replaced and theyre just tight on there for the time being, like the set screws arent screwed in yet (cvuz i have to drill new little holes) does that have anything to do with it??

idk im gonna put some 12's on it and see if the added tension keeps it in tune......

sorry if this is a long annoying question..........just wanted to cover everything

the neck is the wrong scale. you'll need a jag neck, or a conversion neck.

i'm not %100 sure, but without the correct scale neck the guitar won't intonate.

i'm not really the one too explain it. i'd get it wrong. but i do know you can get them from warmoth. that's about the extent of what i know about them.

Jaguars are designed for 24" scale necks, and many Hamers have 25.5" or 24.75" scale necks. The distance between the nut and bridge will be far too long with a Hamer neck, so no, the guitar will never tune or intonate properly because the frets are basically in the wrong place.

no...It wouldn't matter if you had 20" or a 30" neck on there, you could get it into tune. But, when you tried to play it, well....forgidaboudit...

I wouldn't worry myself over this small problem. You are simply using the wrong scale neck. Buy a 24".
