I would'nt just jump to the truss rod just yet, especially if you're not experienced with adjusting the truss rod since it's fairly easy to screw up the neck.
Anyway, it depends on where the buzzing is coming from, if it's with the open string, I'd investigate the bridge, especially the low E saddle, I've had problems with the low E on Reissue mustang bridges loosing the low E intonation screw and buzzing like mad (hence why my Jag-Stang has a intonation screw out of a 60's Mustang on the low E).
If it's at the frets, then it may be the truss rod, or if the guitar is well played and the frets are worn. Worn frets can be leveled by a professional luthier, and the truss rod is not that hard to adjust, but you don't want to go more than 1/4 of a turn either way from where it's at.
