Hi there. Nice forum you have here. I'm an old MUSTANG fan

that got to borrow one for a few months in the 1980's and LOVED

the way the MUSTANG sounded.

Here recently, I've decided to try and find a MUSTANG or a JAG

for myself and am looking into the pros and cons of each model.

Here's a pix of my Squire Musicmaster Bass that I picked

up recently. I'm more of a GUITAR player than a BASSIST

and the short scale fits my hands well.....

I know I have ALOT to learn about these OTHER Fenders and

thank you for the opportunity to join in.....

as you probly already know the mustang and the jag are both shortscale instruments and both have thier ups and downs, im more of a jaguar person myself.

if you have the cash to spare i would say get an american jag, get it set up and live out the rest of your days happy and drunk on guitar goodness.

but if you are looking for a mustang DEFINITLY get the mg65, they are fair superior to even the late 70's fender mustangs that were made in the u.s.

Are you talking about an ORIGINAL '65 or the '65 RI MIJ?

Yah, Mustangs Jags, Duos, Cyclones (and what else?) are all

great overlooked Fenders. Need to do some real research.

Living 1.5 hours and $12 (ONE WAY!) from the nearest music

shoppe, I just can't "drop by" and try them out after work....

Tele man here myself, but I like them all!

Real picky about Strats though for some reason. Most just

don't do it for me - but there are a few I like.

the mg is the new japan mustang, its really tru to the original specs and everyone that i konw that has one has been throroughly pleased with them.

i would not go for the comp stang(69 re-issue) or any of the used re-issues of the mid 90's

i am quit the tele man myself as well

i have an 83 tele

a 72 re-issue style tele

a really beat up affin squire tele

and a tele that i built myself a while back

So, your saying the new Mustangs really do

sound like the old ones?

But stay away from the mid-1990's RI's? Why?

How are the new RI's are better?

I have a mustang from 2005 its not the comp stang though but i love it and i prefer it to the 65ri mine was made in japan and is better craftsmanship as far as i can tell than any of the american fenders ive played if u want a cheap fender guitar with good craftsmanship check into getting one sent from japan there are websites that do this sort of thing and u get alot better guitar for half the money of the american crap thats out there. Then all you need is a fuzz box and a nice tube amp and youll be in heaven in my opinion.
