Jazzmaster buzzzzz after replacemant PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a '66 RI Jazzmaster CIJ

After I put the stock pickguard back on I got this HUGE noise, but the rythem circuit is stil normal.

But there's no were I can see that I broke any direct grounding with the pickguard. It absolutly looks fine no loose ends or anything.

Please advise!!

I'm wondering...is the bridge laying flat on the pg? If so, the bridge may not be in contact with the bridge cups, and that would leave you with an open ground, which would account for the buzzing.

...or the ground wire to the bridge pickup may have come loose whilst pulling it around. Check it on the pickup end as well.

if you have a drill your best bet would be to do a line fro mthe trem cavity to the normal control cavity, and ground the trem to the back of the lead vol pot.

Aug: What is the PG?

Fran: The two wires are both still secure in place on both pickups.

Robert: I don't whant to drill. It has to be a minor problem.

The thing is if I thouch the strings, or any other metal part on it, it goes

away fo about 90%. But when I don't touch the noise is louder than the strings itself.

Again all the wires are still all attached to eachother. How could this has happend?!

you have a bad grounding problem.

a PG is a pickguard.

take it to a tech or get out some wire and an iron.

i keep hearing about the cijs buzzing a whole lot, just start grounding stuff, take the pots and put them to the bridge, the brigde to the trem, triple cross everything if needed.

Everything is cool. I've fixed it.

There was a ground wire from the master volume pot dissconected beneath the tailpiece. That's why I didn't saw it at first. I must have ripped it out by mistake.

Just as I suspected! I did, however, forget that the ground wire on Jaguars and Jazzmasters goes to the tremolo and not the bridge. Glad you got it sorted! 😁
