"Works well in all 3 positions for slightly warmer than usual Strat sound. The vintage 50's magnet stagger is a subtle change from the standard HS-3. It alters the overall tonal balance so there's a little more clarity and string definition, and highs cut through, particularly higher up the neck."
The CAR cij Jaguar i used to have in my avi has now been sorted out. When i got it it had white Strat knobs on it and humtacular stock pups.
I recently fitted some proper Jag knobs and today got rid of that rubbishy stock bridge pup. Even after wax potting it was really noisy. So anyway, i remembered i had a DiMarzio HS3 and YJM lying around doing nothing.
The YJM has an amzing sound so i checked up its compatibilty and spec:
Great. But the first problem as with fitting any Strat pup in a Jaguar... that triangular base plate means you cannot fit the Claw.
So i used a craft knife to trim the plastic back then led the wire around the edge of the pup. The Claw now fits great as does the pup cover.
Wired it up and put it all back together, plugged it in, it sounds great. A noiseless, quality sounding single coil. 😎
What pickups do other Jaguar users have on here and why?
