modification?

hi! first post!, just bought a 66 re-issue jag from ebay, this waas in the listing-

MOD: the last owner has removed pre-set circuit for Front Pick Up. No wiring for the pre-set circuit comes with the guitar and I have not tested pots for this circuit. It seems gained sound power after removing this circuit.-

does this make any sense?

does it affect the roller switches as i cant seem to get much variation in tone when i roll them?

It sounds like you need to start from scratch reading that post. So the whole lead circuit has been removed?

The tone control on the roller knobs (rythym circuit) is'nt dramatic anyway and the only way it may have gained power(?)/tone difference is if the cap has been removed. Its hard to give you advice without actually seeing it.

Hello fella. From reading that I would imagine the rhythm circuit has been bypassed or removed. If the selector switch at the top doesn't have any effect, and the tone and vol sliders don't do anything with that switch in either position then it must have been bypassed. It's debatable whether you'll miss the rhythm circuit really, lots of people never use it (presumably hence why the previous owner ditched it completely). The rhythm circuit is just the neck pup on its own, with much darker tone than the lead circuit. It would be fairly simple to re-instate if you know how to solder. Unscrew the top control plate (the chrome bit) and have a look at the back of it. Tell us if there's any wires connected to it

I remember the ebay listing - the rhythm circuit had been removed. Put me off it, although I rarely use it anyway.
