just changed my stock bridge for a mustang one

but it seemed that the fat e string wouldn't seat right in its groove/slot

and was buzzing al ot

so i had to file it out

is that normal?

also i wrapped the

bridge posts in tape so they fitted snugger

was this wrong?

will it effect the tremolo?

also anyone here from stoke?

or like shoegaze?

Hey sleep tight,

Nice move changing the stock bridge to a mustang bridge. Its very common among jag and jazzmasters players.

Now, the thing about the fat E string. Ive never heard of that fat E not fitting, I use a .52 E and it works well. Do you use very heavy strings?

Anyway, its sound like you solved the problem.

The electrical tape around the bridge posts is also quite common, I used black tape on my '66 mustang and '65 jaguar. When putting it on, make sure you rap it nice and tight without going too low as this might affect the bottom screws. This will NOT effect the tremolo.

We had someone here from Stoke called Sean a while back but he has'nt posted in ages. I'm from near Nottingham.

I love shoegaze.. MBV, Slowdive, Ride, Chapterhouse back to Spacemen 3, Loop, the Telescopes..

To be honest dude i have two Jags and a Jazzy, one with a stock bridge and two with mustang bridges and i prefer the stock bridge.

Reasons being:

1/ the mustang bridge does not match the jag radius

2/ the saddles do not offer as much adjustment

3/ imo the mustang bridge rattles more

A little filing is normal with these guitars unfortunately. Its also usefull to apply grease/vaseline/lypsol to any moving parts of the bridge or parts that rattle against each other (between each saddle on a mustang bridge). It stops unwanted movement, friction and noise.

The tape on the bridge posts is a great idea if you do not use the tremelo. Because the trem is designed to 'rock' the bridge when used by pivoting on the bridge post screws.

If it cannot do this the strings will be sliding over the saddles increasing the chances of the guitar going out of tune and string breakage. However you may escape some of this using a mustang bridge.. but 'roller saddles' would be better.

Checked yout myspace.. are you using a Korg Microkorg on there? I have one and recognised a few sounds. Cool tunes.

I'd add more reverbs to get more ambience, the Zoom 507 is pretty cheap and offers loads.

Dont worry about them roller saddles, they are'nt necessary. See how you get on with your current set up.

Do you go to the Sugamill in Stoke much?

i have a few synth ones a ms2000b which is basically a microkorg with all the control and dials on.

all the songs were done with software only though
