Need the year made of my Mustang

Hello all of you Fender Mustang enthusiasts. I own a Fender Mustang and I am trying to identify the year it was made. It is "blue" the number is L38458, can anyone help me with this or refer me to someone who can. I also have a Takamine aucustic the number in that is F-340. I purchased it back in 1973-74. As far as i know, the L serial was only used in '64 - '65. just pull the neck and its should have a year stamp.

true. Also check the pot dates and the written dates on the pups.
