I only use a guitar stand during a performance or practice to hold it. BUt I keep it in the case to while not in use. But I have had no probs with any style guitar stand, just got to be careful when placing it on a stand as you said, the bottom is not exactly flat. So really its up to you, take your JS to a guitar shop and try it out on different styles and see what you like. BUt I'd suggest not keeping it on a stand all the time, no matter the style.
