I noted earlier that my Mustang is my #3 guitar--there are 2 I prefer, but that in no way is meant to put the Mustang down.
It is very playable. I have no trouble playing lead on it.
BUT whether one guitar is more playable than another is a matter of personal taste, playing style and one's physical attributes. If you have gargantuan hands then a short scale guitar is probably not for you. If you have small hands then a longer scale--such as a Strat--may not be for you, but a Mustang may just fit the bill.
My hands are slightly bigger than average, (but not gargantuan), I have fingers longer than people who are inches taller--but I find a Mustang very comfortable to play. I like using it to practice tricky songs--it's easier to do. Then I try them on my Les Paul (My #1 guitar).
So my earlier remarks stand. The statements of a Mustang not being as playable as other guitars is purely subjective. The Mustang is constructed in the same generalfashion as other guitars. If the fingerboard were on the back of the neck & not the front--then you could say it is less playable in a matter of fact. Otherwise you present an opinion with which many of us disagree---and again I wonder why you would bother to post on a Mustang board.
