Fretless Jaguar Bass

Would it be possible to purchase a fretless Jazz Bass neck and replace the stock Jaguar neck? If so, would you recommend I scour eBay for one? Or just go through Warmoth or some other website?

i have definately seen a jazz bass advertised with a p bass neck.

why you want to change the neck?

you could always rip out the frets and replace them with peices of wood.

No thank you... "ripping out the frets" would ruin the finish, and little pieces of wood would essentially be frets, not a smooth finish like normal fretless necks are.

Because fretless basses sound so clean and beautiful, and so do Jaguars, so why not combine it?

Nope, I have a standard Fender Jaguar Bass. 20 "Vintage Style" frets and all.

you misunderstood me

ripping out the frets will not hurt the finish, seeing as how there is no finish on a rosewood board besides some conditioner.

and slots of wood would not be frets, they would keep the neck from arching. you know, sand it flush with the neck.

I dunno, it still seems unreasonable to just take the frets out. I think what I may eventually do is just buy a fretless Jazz bass and swap the necks with the Jaguar. I'd still be sad that the Jag wouldn't have the block inlays

Nope, they're the same. I've checked the specs on Fender's website, and they're both 34" scale, 1.5" at the nut, and 9.5" radius neck, so it should feel about the same as well. They're both 20 frets as well. So theoretically, the neck would fit onto my Jaguar just fine, right?
