Original 1960s Jaguar "Serviceman" on ebay.

Hey guys... just shamelessly advertising my Jag for sale on ebay. I'm BROKE, so please take a look at it! Its a "serviceman" or phillipino jag... in complete working order and a nice sounding tone. Its as close to the real american vintage you can get without spending thousands of dollars- $550 and its yours.

(I had a bit of work done to it to get it sounding/playing nice! Good to have a brother whos a professional luthier!)

that is a straight rip off.

i have own three and none of them were worth more than 200 bucks.

(btw, i am a luthier, and all were setup perfectly)

Closer than you can get to american vintage without spending thousands? In your dreams. The guy at the local Fender shop has a 62 Jag - he also ahad some MIJs in stock (but charges way too much for them). He got a US resissue in and we tried them out. Guess which sounded more like the 62 after set up? The MIJ jag.

I reckon the MIJ 66 reissues are pretty close myself - having played both a US reissue and an MIJ I reckon the MIJ sound pretty damn similar for a modern guitar. I cant work out how much better a US reissue is to justify charging such a ridiculous price myself.

Ouch... never-mind. I was'nt trying to screw anybody over- It DOES sound good and it DOES play smoothly... And yeah- Its cheaper than a MIJ or AMV; Tack on 50 years of character and a good story behind it and I think its worth $500 bucks. (CHEAPER.)

Which by the way- It sold after only being up for 3 hours for $500.

You guys are gonna make me have nightmares of guilt like I gave some poor fool the sham.

It always got the job done for me and I hated to see it go. I loved that guitar. Sorry to have offended the purists who buy and sell servicemans like its nothing... One day when I've got an extra couple of thousand bucks, maybe I can get into the cool club with an AVG.

Right now- Its just poor-peasant servicemans.

i got three servicemens, and then sold them all to buy equipment and bought a 2 year old avri jaguar for 900 bucks shipped from a music store in new york, i had to sell it to pay for vet bills but for the 2 and half years i had that thing, the quility, feel, sound and overal appeal of the guitar was amazing, mucher better than any of the servicemens i owned.

did yours have a truss rod? it looks like it, non of mine did except for the sunburst bound and block one, it had a steel rod, and the neck looks like yours(spalted maple)

No worries guys- I don't mean to be so hyper-sensitive. Just my first Jaguar is all... loved it.

And yes... It had a truss-rod. Played and looked beautiful! The pick-ups were no-good though. I liked the guitar enough to want to go ahead and completely re-create the guts of an american-vintage... money is tight though, so back to my 90's CIJ Jazzmaster.

Seriously you'd be surprised by the quality of a MIJ jag. And so much cheaper. Ive got one thats a sunburst from 2001 and its now my favourite guitar. And I sold a strat deluxe and a Les paul and this is better for my style of playing by far. Sounds very interpol with a but of gain and reverb.
