Guitars come and go with me, i sold the black MM the other day and it was soon replaced with a MIM Fender Toronado.
It was on a tempting BIN so i had to have it.
After being impressed with the GT model i decided to try this model out.
Firstly it visually looks different for obvious reasons; no racing stripe, it has a sp, MM type bridge with through body stringing, chrome speed knobs and chrome humbuckers.
The feel of the neck is different, but very comfortable. It has a more vintage feel than the GT neck even though the frets look medium/jumbo.
The tuners are the vintage kluson type and the neck is fixed via the traditional chrome plate as oppose to the GT's 'newer' build.
Upon plugging it in once again the sound is very impressive SG territory, the chrome buckers may be 'Atomics' i'm not sure but they have more clarity and bite than the GTs seymour duncans. Definitely better for more traditional sounds. Lots of natural sustain and it also has a little more Fender twang than the other model.
The sp accentuates the Jaguaresque body shape well and i think overall i prefer this model.
If anyone wants a no nonsense Fender with warm tones i swear you gotta check Toronados out, i cannot sing their praises enough.
