afabisze said: Hey,
I'm looking to buy a new tube amp. My main guitar is a MIA 62 reissue Jaguar (STOCK), and also uses a modified standard strat. The only effects I really touch are a Fuzz Face, Big Muff, and Cry Baby. I'm into beatles/rolling stones and bluesy sounds.
My question is really in regard to the size of the speakers in the amp. I have about $1200 to spend, so I am trying to differentiate between a 65 twin reverb, and custom vibrolux.
What are going to be the main differences I will begin to notice between 10" speakers and 12"? Any personal feelings about this?
Thanks
Does a vibrolux have 10" speakers then?
Matt's totally right in what he says, guitar amps and cabs use 12's, i don't know why but you can bet it's been tested to death and they are the best for the job.
From the pedals you use, if you want a unique thumping sound and high-end madness, why not buy a bass amp (Josh Homme from Qotsa used to use one, maybe still does), then set the big muff to rumble the dead from their graves and set the fuzz to super high end the ####ers back in holding their bleeding ear drums?
It's your rig, you need to think about what you wanna sound like.
