Jaguar refinish

Hi guys, I know this question doesnt really have anything to do with jaguars per se, but I wa thinking of doing the following to a jaguar to have it as my 'second' guitar to my jazzmaster:

-refinish in natural wood (I know I'd need a sunburst model to do this)

-put a pair of humbuckers in it, a JB in the bridge and proabably some sort of PAF in the neck

-toggle switch and coil tabs for both pickups on lower control plate

My main questions are:

-how hard to do a re-finish in natural?

-if I route for buckers is it impossible to fit some singles at a later date?

Really easy.

When you've removed the paint, sand it smooth with 220 and then 320 dry sandpaper, and then you could oil it. Read up on oils on some refinishing page to see what you want.

Of course yeah, the pickguard will be covering the 'bucker sized holes and noone would know about it.

basically everything he said, but you gotta realize that yeah you would need a sunburst jag to do it, and plus you may find some un-apealing wood grain that was covered up by the sun burst.

you may be better off having someone make you up a body and then you can just finish it yourself and assemble.

plus a poly finish is a pain in the arse to sand thru.

yeah I know its a bit of a risk with the wood pattern but I'm willing to take a bit of a risk: worst cae I refinish it in a different colour like fiesta red or daphne blue, or maybe even give it a brown stain, really want a natural finish though! If I see a body on ebay already refinished then I'd consider getting that but I want to make this on a bit of a budget and vintage parts are expensive!

And I don't mind taking my time getting the finish off, think its going to be a bit of a project for over the summer to wind down after my horrible degree is finished, just wanted to get ahead of the game and find a sunburst jag with a nice grain if that was what I needed! Thanks guys, when its done I'll get some pics up.
