Nah they aren't, the mustang neck is 24" and the duo-sonic is 22.5", not interchangable.

the original 22.5 scale duo necks are interchangeable with a 24 inch scale guitar, someone on the shortscale forum tried it out once and did all the measurements.

You said they aren't but they are the same scale.

I don't see how it could work, the duosonic is one and a half inches shorter than a mustang neck, so if that works, that means a strat neck would work on a mustang.

take this into consideration.

if you were to take a 25 1/2 scale neck and cut off the first fret then you would have a 22.7 scale fretboard. its just like when you use a kapo.

imagine if you did that with a 24 inch scale, and took the first fret, it would indeed make it shorter(not exactly sure at the moment) but it would also be interchangable with any body made for a 24 in scale.

fender used basically the same fretting template for both, if i remember correctly, i could be wrong in that aspect but im most certain that they can be changed out.
