Somewhat long story, I'll try to make it quick....

I initially wanted one because they looked cool and Kurt Cobain used one (this was during my alt-rock/grunge days), then I heard about the #### pickups, and disliked the very "un-mustang-like" looks of the stock pickups, and "Robroe covers" were not availible, so I drew one up with black EMG pickups at the time, since they were the closest thing in looks to Mustang pickups, and I had played a Fender Prodigy before with the same pickups in it, and loved the sound.

Anyway, I just lucked out one morning when I went to the guitar and found this right next to the door when I turned around (sans a lot of the dings, this guitar is alternating as my main with my Jaguar so it gets played a lot)....

The final verdict was to get it, after I had been playing it in the store for almost a whole year. Apparently few-nobody wanted it because it was an "Alt-Rock Guitar" with "Butt Rock Pickups" in it, all the merrier to me, I put it on layaway and it was liberated from the store on my birthday.

For me kut cobain does'nt even enter this topic.

I like offset guitars, weirdish guitars, old looking Fender guitars and guitars with lots of switches. The JS comes into that group, it also has the bonus of a humbucker (i dont seem to be getting the sound i want from singles lately).

The reason i purchased my first JS was because it was 100 GBP cheaper but similarish to the Fender Jaguar at the other side of the shop that i wanted but could not afford.

idug the old 60's offbeat fenders but didn't have the cash for a mustang(they werent really making them at the time) and jaguars were the holy grail but they were realyl really pricey for me as well.

so i picked up a j.s. from canada for like 360 bucks and thought"hell yeah!"

When I first started getting interested in guitar, I saw a pic of the JS as Fender had just released it. At the time, I wasn't a Nirvana fan and didn't know who Kurt Cobain was nor was I familiar w/ the music. The radical look and sonic blue color really caught my eye and I fell in love. I looked up info on it and found out about Nirvana and Kurt through it. Checked out the music and fell more in love w/ it as Nirvana quickly became one of my favorite bands. Basicly, the Jag-Stang introduced me to Nirvana, so it became an integral part of my development as a musician and music lover before I even picked one up.

They were discontinued before I had gotten up enough cash to afford one and while I could have gotten a fiesta red one, I had my heart set on sonic blue, so I passed on it. When Fender reissued them I set about on a mission to get my blue one. Got a job at Guitar Center and was able to get one at cost, and now, as Darth Vader would say, "The circle is now complete." I call her Polly as the first Nirvana song I ever heard was "Polly" from the unplugged session.

Do you think if I pitched my expirience w/ movie director John Hughes (of Breakfast Club and Farris Bueller's Day Off fame) that he could make a successful movie out of it??

Yeah, i'd watch a tearjerker based on a kid and his Jag-Stang dream. Its all guns, murder and sex nowadays, the worlds gone to the dogs.

i liked it mainly because kurt designed it and its not a bad sounding guitar. needs a little touch up with some of the hardware and pickups but other than that its and amazing axe.

Loco

The guitarist in a local band played a much modified one and I loved the sounds he created with it. As soon as Fender announced they were reissuing it, I got my order in. I like that quirky shape, big headstock and the pretty Sonic Blue body colour.
