locking machine heads?

are there any good locking machine heads about that will fit into my cij jaguar?

want something that wouldn't leave extra screw holes.

and as good a locking system as is possible.

any suggestions?

there is nothing that you could put on that would not make extra holes, where you did sperzels or a locking nut,

whats wrong with your stock tuners>?

as in like a floyd rose type things

my guitars always out of tune 😛

I bought a set of locking tuners when I had my cij jag, I got them from stewmac.com. Gotoh's I bought them before knowing anything about locking tuners or how they worked. I hated them. I dont think they improve anything, they just hold on to the strings by clamping in them. I dont see how this is any better than stringing your guitar the way your meant to. Again, just my opinion.

i thought locking tuners locked on the strings so the strings couldn't slip

then locked so the tuners don't turn?

they not improve much at all?

yeah it was a straight fit, have a quick look at my last posts link.

Its kinda hard to explain. Your normal tuners have the string wrapped around it 2or 3 times. The locking tuners have a piece that comes off, you fit the very end of the much shorter string into the piece, after putting it back it tightens (locks) as you tune. The string is so short that (ive found) that stuff like a drop D E string is not comfortable. Because the string is so short, if you detune to much the string starts to wrap backwards and then starts tightening again. I hope you got what I mean. 😕

I don't even bother with these. Once the ping copy klusons on my Jag wear out, I'm replacing them with the Tone-Pros tuners which are exactly what I've been looking for for years.....Vintage style sealed gear tuners with the slot-load mech (I love those because there's no excess strings to cut you). Just the slot loading is enough to make me put those on all of my guitars, even the Floyded machines with Schallers, and my cheapies.

Those Tonepros tuners actually look pretty decent. And made for all guitars which is even better.

i read on another jaguar forum that klusons are ####. that all the standards had dropped since they got bought out.

they do look nice though.

Do you have a link to that what you read?

To be honest i think the standard tuners are solid, make sure you stretch your strings in when you put new ones on. I think that is your main problem, unless you use your whammy like Kerry King.

That aside the tone pro's are good, i put some on my Gibson LP Junior.

Perhaps the new ones are rubbish, and maybe the last 10 Fenders i owned had the better ones fitted because i have never had a problem. Except with the GT Toronado tuners (that are'nt Klusons anyway).

What year is your Jag and are you positive it is fitted with the new tuners?

Oh, i would'nt get too worked up about what people say is gospel on forums either. If they work okay for you thats all that matters.

To hear some people talk buying a CIJ is a waste of money. 🙄

If your guitar is not going out of tune i would'nt care what you read, ya know.. "if it is'nt broke then dont fix it" kinda thing.
