Hi guys, seems to me there are a lot of posts on here about amp wattage, specifically how much do you need to gig with, and I wanted to make a case in point...
...couple of weeks back I saw hell is for heroes at the ####pit in leeds (fairly big venue, people like trail of dead, oceansize, sleater kinney, minus the bear play there), and was lucky enough to see their rigs up close (for those who dont know the heroes theyre fairly heavy but have some quieter bits too, on a par with at the drive-in perhaps). They have 2 guitarists, no differentiation between lead/rhythm, its all shared. Rigs go like this:
guitarist 1:
-gibson SG
-no pedals
-orange 4x12 cab
-mesa triple rec 100W head
guitarist 2:
-gibson les paul jr (P90s)
-no pedals
-orange 4x12
-orange tiny terror 15W head
would everyone like to give an opionion on who had the best tone by a significant stretch, was lounder, clearer, had more definition and had 'that' tube tone that most people need to crank to get but also got great cleans with his volume control?
