hello there,

i have mustang ri 65' (CIJ). I recently opened the pickguard to do some cleaning etc. I notice something and have few questions for you guys:

1. What type of pickup do i have?. The pickup has wire-cloth type attached to the switch. The color of the coil is dark brownish. Is it made in US or Japan?

2. Would it be any big difference, if i dont use the pickup cover?. Would it be noisier?

im assuming japanese just because its a japanese guitar, and no to the covers they are on for the look

The pickups are Japanese. The 65' Reissues are a lot more historically accurate than the 69- Reissues. The cloth wires and shielding in the pickup cavity are both accurate features on the 65' that the 69' reissue did not have.

oh..forgot to tell you there are also 3 bronze plates on each of pickup route and switch attached with a tiny wire..i guess that are for shielding right?

Yes, those plates are for shielding. I also just learned that the pickups are not the same as those found in the 69 reissue. They are made in Japan, but they sound more like the vintage Mustangs than the pickups in the 69 reissue.

thanks for th inputs. regarding the shielding, still feel my mustang is noisier than my strat. How to solve this?
