Dimarzio Super Distortion

Hey, i just bought a super distortion pick up and the pole pieces are allen key holes, it came with an allen key too. so, what i was wondering is what are they for?

It is so you can adjust the height of each individual pole piece. The closer the pole to the string, the higher the output from it. Its there so you can fine tune the tone to your individual taste.

Yeah, what I do is this. Play each string started from your low E string by its self. I use a .52 low E, so its always the one thats loudest. Then adjust the pole pieces so that each string plays at the same volume as the low E. 😈

do you have a super distortion or another dimarzio pup? can't you equal the volumes of the strings by slanting the pup treble side up?

I've only owned Duncans, Yeah you can make the treble side higher, but i prefer to just use the screws. Thats what they are meant for. I knew this guy with an American Strat, he had his pickups treble side high. He mostly played blues and Clapton stuff, worked well for him. 😈
