Gee... I thought Jaguar pickups (the original `63 ones on my jag, anyway) had a bit more output than Strat pickups. They've got slightly fatter, square-shaped coils, and, I think, a few more windings. They sound somewhere between a Stratocaster pickup and a Telecaster bridge pickup, actually, with the "claws" adding extra brightness.
I've heard that Japanese Jaguar pickups aren't wax potted, and make microphonic squeals at high volumes. I've also heard that they're "thinner" sounding than American Jaguar pickups, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they wind the pickups to some sloppy "Stratocaster" specs, as well.
