CROSS Once I filled the gap in the maple it didn't open back up. I'll know next time to overlap the maple slightly. The body is made of some crazy Alder-esque wood. It's quite heavy. I would have preferred basswood. With the binding, I taped as much as I could, but for the top edge I had to use sandpaper very carefully around the edges to remove the black paint.
CROSS I can't really say how much it cost to make. I had most of the parts laying around for ages. When it is completely finished with electronics etc, I would expect it will be worth $500AU.
robertoriginal thats a very reasonable expectation cross, custom made instrument, good parts/ electronics 1000.00 is a good idea of what it SHOULD go for, but its hard ot say, sometimes it may go for 200 usd. other times 2,000.00 usd.
CROSS I have far too much Irish blood in me to expect too much for it. The finish looks very good in the photos, but there's heaps of imperfections. It's not up to the professional standard that I am aiming for.
robertoriginal thats a good way to think.the second you get too comfy with it you start making REAL mistakes and your overal quility dips if you get too ####y about it.this is apparent with a few people i have met, some builders, some not, but it holds tru for anyone.

The whole reverse phasing thing is doing my head in, I can't get the switch to work properly.
CROSS I put a different switch in it and it works fine now. Those Dano switches are wired differently.
CROSS For those who are interested, the pickups on this thing are fantastic.Very glassy jaguaresque sound, but still holds that Danelectro blues sound. Sounds amazing through my Fender twin reverb amp.The pickups are custom made pro-tube alnico GFS brand. They are designed to fit perfectly into a strat. The bridge pickup is 5.9k.

CROSS Cheers.I just found out the wood I used is called Agathis species similar to kauri pine. I don't recommend it. it's heavy and brittle.
