30 watt v. 40

Hey I need a fast answear guys please help me out here, my folks picked me up an orange rocker 30 combo for Christmas but my dad came to me today and asked if that was loud enough since I play with a band and everything, I use a 40 watt Fender Hot Rod Deluxe now, and I keep it at volume 2 cause its so loud, so will an all tube 30 watt have a big difference in sound or should they return it for a 50 watt??

Think about it. You use a 40 watt amp on volume setting 2 and it's loud, so if you change to a 30 watter, you can crank it more, get the tubes hotter and it will sound better.

Saying that, i don't think there's a huge difference, you won't be able to like, turn the 30 watter to 11 or anything, but you can crank it more.

Tubes are louder than solid state.

Peavey classic 30, can't go wrong. Buttery goodness...

A 30watt tube amp is pretty loud. I had a 4x10 deville that was wayyyyy to #### loud.

If that orange amp is solid state it might not be loud enough.

what kinda music do u play because, i have a randall half stack and its only 120W pretty decent but i need it to be louder, once i go past 6 its sounds poopy

30 watts is enough for the edge, is enough for peter holmstrome and enough for literally every guitarist who uses a Vox. Pj harvey uses an orange AD30 for her distortion tone live, as does the guitarist from eagles of death metal. Wattage is logarithmic, 40watts isnt a third more powerful than 30watts, its about 1/16 louder.

The big question is whether you'll want orange thickness rather than fender clean.

Well its an orange all tube, but it was a 1x12 and I have a 30 watt Valvetronix which is a 1x12 and not loud enough for my drummer, but I got a 50 watt Orange 2x12 and I cant play it till tuesday so now its a waiting game lmao.

One question its got two 8 Ohm Celestions hooked up but inside they are connected to the 16 Ohm thing, is that correct? or should it be 8 Ohms for them both. Thanks for all the comments!
