Boss DS-1 problem

Yeah, yeah, I know: lots of people here don't like Boss in general or are certainly averse to their distorsion pedals.

Still, I like what I have (a DS-1 plus the mighty MD-2) and never got the hang of stuff like Rats and Big Muff - they just sound to muddy for me.

Lately, my problem with the DS-1 is that when I switch it on, the signal (even the clean one) is interrupted for about 0.2 or 0.3 seconds before the distorsion kicks in. You can imagine my embarassment...

Anyone has any ideas what could be causing this please?

Dude, I haver de same problem that you. I bought a DS-1 New, and since I tried, it happens waht you say. The signal (even de clean one too) it's interupted for like .3 or .4 seconds. I thoug that time and use may solve this, but it's 2 years I bought it and it had the same problem. Did you fix yours?

buy a new one there cheap. ive broken them before they last for a year or two for me normally, but there heap get a new one, or a ds-2 IMO it sounds way better. it what i use nowa days

I went out and bought a OD-3, which goes way louder to begin with, but also has a much more versatile and dynamic sound. It's more suitable for rythmic use than the DS-1, and the sustain is, like, forever. 😀
