I was in the studio yesterday and another guitar player was there who had the EHX Pocket Metal Muff on his board, I asked him if I could try it and plugged it in to my twin reverb and played my Jaguar through it.
Sounded really good actually, not at all what I was expecting. Definitely not brittle or harsh sounding like the Boss Metal Zone pedals, and surprisingly fat sounding. I also liked how relatively small it was as it wouldn't compromise the space on my board. They don't cost too much money so I may pick one up. Anyone looking for a nice fat distortion sound should look into one.
Definitely good for the high gain sound I've been missing on my board for a while. I don't really play much music that calls for that type of sound anymore, but its nice to have it available when its needed.
