People that play guitar and eventually create music have musical INFLUENCES, kadium. Most of the people that even started playing guitar have a band that they liked, and made them want to make music. Following your idols is not something to be ashamed of. Many of the people that hang out in the Jag-Stang forum (myself included) name Kurt Cobain as one of their major influences. Having a guitar designed by him, is molding your love for Fender guitars and Kurt Cobain. Leave aside the fact that the Jag-Stang is funky looking guitar, and its specifications match many musicians that like the sound of grunge/indie/lo-fi or whatever. Playing a signature guitar of a certain artist is also your way of showing tribute to that artist, that in many cases, influnces your musical choices, playing style, and, for some, their life.

Blane you had a good point too! i dont give a #### what people think of the jagstang and peoples reasons for buying one.

Would you still be sayin that if this was a forum for signature Paul McCartney guitars, I doubt it loads of people have them because they are good guitars too.

But I mean who wouldnt want a guitar designed by one of the greatest rock stars of all time, its like history. Your musical infuences always give you a sound that you like to re-create in some way, its not as if you say I really like the Nirvana sound and then go and learn to play the flute is it now!!!

not really sure why people would buy the guitar if it wasnt for Kurt and his sound...it is in fact the guitar he built... I wouldnt buy and eric clapton guitar to sound like jeff beck...you know??

We know Kurt designed the guitar. But, many of us also know that you aren't going to get that sound you're after with the Jag-stang. At least not unless you are willing to mod the JS, buy up every piece of equipment he used, find all his settings, and even then...you will only get his live sound.

This is something most of us already know. We are also ok with that.

As for why they own a Jag-stang, I really can't speak for the other members, but I bought one because of Kurt. I'm sure many of here did. So what? Play your guitar, write some stuff, be happy. What else can I tell you?
