Gold anodized for MIA jazzmaster?

I've been on a search forever! Nothing on ebay, not even a place where they custom make them. You guys know of a place for gold anodized guards that fit american reissues?

really? I thought since it'll be near impossible to find one, he'll need one custom-made, and it would help to be able to see/examine one so that he can speak intelligentely to anyone willing to make one.

I'd guess that the reason that ultradust managed to get one is because he's over near Fender Japan, and they make specialty stuff like that for their guitars. I don't know if you would find one from them that would fit an American JM, but you might want to try e-mailing Ishi-Bashi and asking them about what they've got.

I think he painted it or colored it himself somehow.

It's a custom one.Maybe he made it by himself.

i wonder what aluminium is like to cut with a router? it is a very soft metal. you'd have to do that, and then anodize it with the gold afterwards

Yea aluminium is very easy to work with.

Bronze is much more difficult to cut it.But it will look better.

It depends of course what you'd like.

I've cut aluminum with my router, and destroyed every bit I used...I ended up cutting the thing by hand and using files to shape the edges and pup holes. I'll never make another aluminum pg again...

Yepps, mine is painted and glazed over with clearcoat, ready to be redone soon, as reluctant as I am. I did finally find the Fender MIJ partlist on the http://www.apollonmusic.com site, and fished around to where the JM guards lie. Sure enough, it's there, although screw-holes fitting on an MIA would be questionable.

Click on the Jazzer guard, and find the appropriate JM list. It's the 4th one down, at a hefty Y10,080. My Japanese sucks, but I know enough to be sure that it says: arumi andaizudo garudo. Cute, eh?

Yea no point for a japan guard, I sold my CIJ jazzmaster, and wouldn't mess with the MIA body. As for the router, maybe a diamond tiped bit? But then I'd have to find a 45 degraa angle, for the edges of the guard?

cool, but no good with aluminum.

What I was going to do was find a online shop that make those ugly diamond plate ones, and ask them if they do flat metal (aluminum hopfuly no other metals lighter or sounds better). Why not, worth a shot.

Texalium is a reinforced material based on glass fabrics. Aluminium is applied through a special treatment of the glass fabric. Through this special treatment you get a unique and shiny surface.

i would have suggested a milling tool for the aluminium. but they can't be fitted with a bearing, of course. however, sometimes the smooth part of the bit above the cutting line can be used as a tracer, in the same way as a bearing can be. might have to keep applying very thin, clean oil to it though.

also, you wouldn't generally have a bevel on the edge of an aluminium pickguard. the entire pickguard would be thin enough for it not to require one

someone here posted recently that they could anodize guards. can't remember who though. i think it was ranger or aaron or trisk or someone else....
