Keep in mind that the wood underneath might not look that good, so it might not be suited for a transparent sunburst.
Why do you want it repainted by the way? To look more like a KC Jag?
Would be cheaper to buy a sunburst Jag and route it for buckers, and you'll probably get a nicer finish that way.
I wouldn't bother repainting unless it's a finish that isn't available.
