the six holes were most likely done for string ferrels like a string thru telecaster or hard tail strat.
the brass nut is also a mod, im suprised at this becuz the slot for a nut on a fender is radiused like the fretboard which would require a bit of time adn evergy to get the nut radiused in order to fit it properly.
