Jackplate Question

In my quest to obtain my dream mustang..i've run into a problem. If i buy a right handed jack plate, would it be possible to flip it over and use it left handed? or will i be doomed to scavenge ebay looking for one?

why cant you flip it? it would be the same just opposite.

It's flat on the side that goes to the body, and it has a slight radiused edge on the other, plus the flat side isnt the same finish, it's sort of duller and doesn't look as good.

couldnt sanding fix this?

What? You would sand about 2mm off of a metal plate instead of finding a normal one?

ive never seen lefty mustang parts on ebay. only full guitars.

i ordered a regular one off of guitar parts resource, so when it gets here ill let you know if i think it'd work when i have it infront of my face. but it should be like monday because i have to go to florida from thursday to monday for my grandparents 50th anniversary.

They must be around somewhere, Fender doesn't make right hand and left handed guitars and only sells replacement parts for the rightys.

idk lefty #### especially for a mustang is hard to find on ebay.

well i got in contact with an authorized fender parts dealer, and they don't have them availible either..

with the slight radius for the righty ones, it will only be noticeable if you really inspect the guitar

so essentially I could use it? thanks for the help ill be ordering one once i pay robert(original) for the pickguard.

I just pulled the replacement plate on my JS..It is chromed on the back but it is not polished like the front, Or the back wasn't prepped as good as the front before chroming.The edges look to not have any/very slight bevel and the chrome kinda rounds the edges so you won't slice a finger off.I would get one and try polishing the back of the plate Or get it rechromed.

Another possibility is getting a plate made to match the PG..that would be hot, maybe I'll do that with my JS!

Or even a one piece PG/plate.
