The way many swedes and icelanders are named is according to their father or mothers names. That's not always the way it works, of course, but when my brother went out with Bjorks cousin (she was icelandic, everyone is her cousin), she was called Gudmundsdottir, because she was the daughter (dottir) of Gudmund, or something. So Sigmundsson is the son of Sigmund, etc.

yes i know about that naming system, but Persson must be one of the most common **son names in sweden. Cardigans' Nina is Persson isnt she?

I also got a mini obsession with iceland oriented names, i remember i was supporting this little sister at the olympics on 2004

you should see the chaos in Cyprus. There, as a surname you get the first name of your father but with no addition in the end like -son, just change the inflexion to genitive,

something that leads to funny names such as Kostas Kosta or Yiannis Yianni.

That would be the equivalent of John Johns or George Georges, or monachus monachus

Hey - I got it as well. I love to watch my girlfriend playing her bass guitar, but by that picture I just wanted to say - "The guitar itself doesn't make a woman" - if you get my idea. 😛 In addition (and o use your statement): espiecially when she's a cow 😛

By the way - I'm courious what do you think about Kim Gordon. Certainly - she has never been a kind of a chick, she isn't even pretty, you can say - but it's something strangely femine in the way she plays and acts on the scene. I can't clearly express what I'm thinking about, and so - another picture:

Kim Gordon is like Darcy in that she gets too much credit for having a vagina and playing an instrument, despite not being very good at either of them. And least Darcy realized she couldn't sing and shut her mouth.
