vintage mustang switches

I have a 6465 Mustang and I think the switches aren't right

I tried to diagram it here

there are 2 switches, one that is closer to the neck and one that is closer to the bridge

each switch has 3 positions (you guys probably already know this)

x = denotes where the switch is positioned

neck bridge

x00 x00 = silence

x00 0x0 = silence

x00 00x = silence

0x0 x00 = music

0x0 0x0 = silence

0x0 00x = music

00x x00 = music

00x 0x0 = music

00x 00x = music

so there are 4 positions where I can make the guitar silent. Is that right?

Do you think I have a pickup problem or a switch problem?

you have a major switch problem.

how long has it been like this?

if its truly a vintage instrument you should have atech look at it,

but if you are skilled enough them surely you can follow a wiring diagram(check the seymour duncan site) and re-wire it yourself.

I am not "skilled enough". I guess I will have a tech look at it. You think the pickups are OK?

pick ups wouldnt be fu cked up for silence, just take it to a tech.

when the switches are in the middle position then it's going to put both pickups off. I think you might have some wires backwards because I used to have the same problem with my old jag-stang.

actually you might have a problem with the neck pickup because the way your explaining it with your diagram, shows that when ever the neck pickup is on it's silent except for the conf. before there both in the middle which shows the neck is off and bridge is on.

That could simply be a wire from the pup is disconnected.Probably at the solder on one of the switches.I wouldn't condemn the pup just yet.

i doubt its your pickups at all, but rather the wiring for theswitches
