Another Tool said: Mine was a 97, it was definitely sonic blue, nowhere near green, you have to think that your 1996 paint job has had alot of air to it in the last 12 years.
The humbucker was terribly weak at high volumes, anything more than bedroom volume and it sucked, i had a cheap strat copy (my first guitar) with a JBjr in it and it killed the Jag-stang until i stuck a super distortion in there.
I can't comment on the sound difference between the original run and a reissue, i haven't played a reissue and i don't really want to, but there aren't that many differences surely.
The original one was basswood body, maple rosewood neck with a mustang trem. So been as though they still make basswood mustangs, they must be exactly the same apart from maybe the electronics are different, and they are japanese anyway, by your own admission, they suck.
Ok SPAWN , you have your idea , i got mine , all i know is that , my jagstang is not sonic blue , it's AQUA / BLUE GREEN , like Kurt want to made , like old colour guitar.
I don't understand why , when i put the Dimarzio Dp100 the sound was too weak , weaker than the original humbuicker , no sustain , it was really Awfull , it's not me who placed the humbuicker , maybe and surely the man who's made that do that wrong , i don't know whatever , i played yesterday on my own concert the sound was good , but it's true ,when i push distortion the sound is a little too weak , what can i do master Spawn , what are you advice to me friend ?
Am i change the single and the humbucker to have a POWERFULL SOUNNNNNNNDDDDDDD
Wait yours reply guys , you can maybe help me , sorry for my english , i'm from Belgium and i'm speak french , i try to to my best to explain my wishes ....
