im thinking about a fender deville #1 should i go for it and #2 if i do should i get the 212 or the 410

What kinda music do you play? Grunge i guess? It'd be good, but a silverface fender twin might be better, thats what kurt used to record in utero (one of my favourite guitar sounds); its a bit rawer witas it has master volume, and a twin takes pedals better than anything. The hot rod deville is a bit 'glassier'. I have a blues deville which is more bassman-like too, bit grittier than the hot rod. The silverfaces are handwirded too I think, apparently they go very cheap in the US; I know they do over here anyway. You can hear the deville on a load or records if you wanna hear first; the strokes, bloc party, (some) yeah yeah yeahs, silversun pickups (clean sound) and a few others. The 4x10 vs 2x12 option? generally I'd take a 2x12 for fender guitars and 4x10 for gibson guitars; if you're using a fender with a bucker or a gibson with p90s though you'll probs get a balanced sound from either. The deville is a good gigging amp though, you won't need a new one for a while.

lmao, literally.

Purr is right you need to try 'em, theyre common as muck so finding one to try isnt hard; stuff that looks like a good idea on paper won't necessarily give you 'that tone'. The deville is a good amp to gig with, and a lot of people like and use them, wheter you will is another matter. tone is in the fingers!
