Actually I just checked all the Jag's and out of 3 that all have solid paint jobs, 2 of them are stated as being alder and one of them (the Antigua one) is stated as being basswood.
I also just checked on Ikebe-Gakki and they say that all their solid colour Jag's are Alder as well.
They have a really nice Jag's with neck binding and pearl dots as well. Mmmm. Fender Japan is way better than US. They're calling it a '65 re-issue.
