Gigging guitarists opinions on 1x12s please!

I need opinions from those of you who gig with combos: I've set my heart on a mesa amplifier specifically an F-series, and I've found two good options, an F50 1x12 in mint condition and custom colour for

I have a 1x12 Marshall JCM 2000 combo and it sounds great.

My only criticism is with open back amps you seem to loose some bass projection, i suppose thats why all the Metal bands go for closed back cabs. Incidently, my amp is 40w (valve) and it can drown any drummer out and is suitable for most venues.

It does crunch up a bit on the clean settings though but that is because i'm really pushing the volume.

yeah I'm getting the impression that the main difference is between combos and stacks as oppose to types of combos. I think I may have come across a bit of info which seals the deal in the F100s favour: its loaded with 2 vintage 30s (as oppose to a single mesa 'black shadow'), and i very much like vintage 30s...

the 2 x has greater attack.....1 x is mellower.......in mho

here is the "actual" drum set Fran alluded to, that he in fact overpowered.

Makes sense.....aren't drummers by nature frustrated musicians who can't play an instrument.
