I was feeling pretty pleased, having installed a set of SD QPs in my CIJ Jag, but I'm getting a serious ground hum now.
Reeeeally stupid question, I'm thinking: on each of the QPs there's two wires - one black (which I take to be ground) and one either white (bridge) or red (neck) which must be the output. There's also a wee length of kind of tinned wire, which I just left loose to make er...contact with each claw.
Does this bit of wire need to be soldered to the claw?
Can the fact mine ain't be causing the godawful hum racket I hear?
The noise pretty much stops when I touch the lead selector switchplate or the jackplate. I was gonna rip it all out and resolder, like, everything (and mebbe do that popular series mod while I'm at it.
(All this bollox apart, those QPs are EXACTLY what I was looking for to put a boot in the Jag sound while retaining the uh..essence......)
