Explanation of switches

Hey all.I recently purchased a RI '65 Daphne Blue Mustang. Love it so far. I love that it's not as twangy as my stratocaters. And I love the smallish neck.

I had a question regarding the pickup switches. I've read a little about the phase/polarity but I don't understand it at this point. Can someone please explain the switch positions and maybe we can add it to the FAQ?

Good explanations on what is happening when one pickup is set to phase and one is not and so forth.

I usually have the switches both to the inside or the outside for the out of phase sound.

i usually have the bridge on norm and the neck off.

I definitely love the in phase sound. Both forward or both back. I play a lot of rhythm guitar stuff and it's really clean and clear which I love. Almost like an acoustic.
