nirvanafreak is right, the mustang comes with a mustang bridge, no matter what issue or year.
the tune or matic causes more problems than it creates
1. the radius or curve of the bridge is different than the neck making it very uncomfortable to play on the high e and low e(the d and g strings would be about right but everything else would be off including the string spacing)
2. you would need to shim the neck in order to get any sort of decent action from it.
so the general statement is
NO, you do no need a tune o matic on your mustang and its worthless, but if you feel that you do need one then you must take to a tech/luthier to have it setup properly otherwise you will back on here within a week of getting it complaining about it.
