1000 is a lot if it's a reissue, but if it's vintage, then totally go for it.
Feel is the most important thing about a guitar, because no matter how it feels you can change the way it sounds by swapping pups. now, with that said, it sounds like it's gonna be your first guitar (just by how you were talking about things)
What did you like the sound of more, the SG or the Stratocaster? If you play a mustang, you'll find that it sounds a lot more like a stratocaster than a SG ever will. Mustangs have a very very unique sound though, very twangy and jangly and pretty sounding, a very genuinely special tone.
Personally, I found the bridge pickup in the mustang to be a tad ####ty, so I put a 70s special hot bridge strat pickup in it, and I totally fell in love with my mustang all over again!
That said, everyone is different, so some people totally love the sound of it. I liked it, but I didn't love it until I changed it a bit.
Anyway, with that said, I loved the *feel* of the guitar, so like I said, I changed the sound.
If I were you, I'd get the one that just feels right. I'll be honest, mustang sorta feels like a cross between a SG and a Stratocaster, so if I were you, I'd go for whatever of the two you think sounds better, so it'll sound like you want it to from the getgo, no alterations.
