what would you stuff your mustang with?

So in a temporary lapse of sanity I bought a bare 1969 Reissue mustang body of ebay. Once I finish building my Jagstang I was going to build a hot rod surf sound guitar (i know, i know....I should have started with a jaguar) out of it.

so any pup's y'all can recommend? I was thinking about SD jaguars but I am kind of curious what else is out there. Currently my house looks like a showcase for SD.

I would stuff mine with apricot & walnut stuffing, then stick it in an oven at gas mark 7 til Dec 25th.

Seriously - See the pic below, I saw this on ebay last week & thought it was a cool idea - Jag pick ups in a mustang. Personally I would recommend Seymour Duncan Antiquities, they offer the vintage tone you are after, or a pair of vintage mustang pick ups from ebay, I have found no difference between the earlier 60's & the later versions found on the 80's USA Bullets.

At the end of the day, I think that it is all down to amp settings when aquiring a tone.

I wouldn't say that the amp has the final say on tone, but the jag pickups sound like a good choice for your needs like yoreel said.

I stand corrected, I didn't really mean to say its all down to amp settings, what I meant was - that tweaking your amp settings will help achieve a good tone ...... I'm flagging now aren't I ? Get me a shovel !

The more I look at those Jag pick up's, the more I like them, I feel another project coming on.

I know what you meant to say, obviously it doesn't matter what pickups you have, if you don't know how to set the EQ, you'll have sh*t tone.

Those antiquity pups look real good and the price seems decent (about $66-69 for net prices). I wonder what kind of pots would be good to run with them.....

I'd go with 500k's, it's all personal preference though, try them with your stock pots, and if you think they are a little too dark, go for the 500's.

Most will say 250, but i've always had good results with those and single coils, see the 1meg pots thread, it's exactly the same.
