Yeah, it's something you'll just have to try for yourself. 1 meg pots = bright, but if you're using humbuckers that might sound alright. But yeah, it's your call.

I think Gibson LP's went from 500 to 1m pots because of the sheer mass of mahogany making the tone a bit dull. There are other reasons people use them, i think mad-mike used 1m pots in his guitars.. perhaps better harmonic response?

That's quite true actually, I did a repair job for my mate's dad on his Squier tele, swapped the 500k pots out for some 1 meg ones I had lying around (although rather than being because of tonal problems, that was more because I had to rip the original tone pot apart to get it out, someone had glued it into the control plate 😕 ). It kicks the crap out of most other teles I've heard now for sheer sonic depth, and that's with stock Squier pickups. Although that may be coupled with me putting an Orange Drop cap in it as well.

hmm...i think ima try 1meg pots for volume/tone with the dimarzio superdistortion (bridge) and a dimarzio PAF pro(neck) for a project guitar im working on

any suggestions?

That should work okay. Incidently that pickup choice is the same as what Westbury guitars were fitted with. I'll have a look what pots were used in mine...

500k. But there are large caps fitted that may change the value.

One thing, the DiM super distortion is just that, if you want a humbucker that will 'clean up' well with the volume control a better choice would be a Seymour Duncan 'Pearly Gates' or 'JB'.

heres how the setup i plan on using on my guitar

neck pickup: Dimarzio PAF pro

bridge pickup: dimarzio super distortion

both are individually able to be coil tapped

and 500k pots for tone/volume
